Identifying and Addressing Information from Journals of School Administrators

Assessing the Journals, Evaluating Strategies in Them and Adding a Personal Opinion

Abstract

This paper examines three professional resources which are from the field of education and that are important to school administrators. Each of these resources in evaluated in terms of its credibility, level of accessibility, the information in its recent issue and by how scholarly it is. Then, 4 strategies are evaluated in each of the sources. These are team building, stress management, conflict resolution and time management. Their positive and negative effects are examined. There is also a personal opinion about these strategies and how they appear in the sources. Lastly, there is a short and concise discussion of how these strategies can be implemented in my school. The journals that were selected are the School Administrators journal and the Journal of Scholarship & Practice, which belong to the American Association of School Administrators, and Insight journal, which is a part of the Texas Association of School Administrators.

The first resource is the School Administrators journal. The information provided in the most recent issue of the journal (that of August 2009), contains several different topics. The first one deals with superintendent blogging. Another article also discussed the benefits of blogging. A different topic dealt with anger management. These were the main topics in that issue.
